Kirstenbosch National Botanic Gardens

A hillside garden and nature reserve filled with exotic flora and a number of walking trails

Kirstenbosch National Botanic Gardens in Newlands, Cape Town, conserves and displays South Africa’s diverse and rich flora.

On the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is the first Botanical Garden in the world to be devoted to indigenous flora. Plants from across the diverse regions and biomes of southern Africa grow and thrive here. The Gardens are absolutely beautiful, a peaceful and exotic place to enjoy nature and the local environment.

As well as nurturing African wildlife, the Kirstenbosch Gardens host concerts and other outdoor events. Steep, north-facing lawns create the perfect spot to chill out with the stage set before a stunning mountain backdrop. The Summer Sunset Concert series runs every Sunday evening in the summer months (late November until early April), featuring the best local bands and some international stars.

You can see which concerts and events they have on, and buy tickets if need be, here.
