In a city filled with so many amazing burger joints, it can be difficult to know where you should start. lucky for you, we’ve got you covered!

If you’re going out for a burger you want the best available, right? So why would you go to GBK when you can go to Bleecker Burger? (If you’ve never heard of Bleecker, then this is the post for you!)

Everyone loves a good burger, even if you’re a vegetarian (and there are some damn good veggie burgers in the city!) It’s too easy to stop off at Five Guys or GBK for your meaty goodness – everyone knows these places, but are they really the best?

Well, we definitely don’t think so. Instead, here’s our Trusty Guide to the best burgers in London!

Bleecker Street is one of those finds where you try it on a whim and realise you’ve unearthed an absolute gem.

We first tried their burgers from their van in Spitalfields Market when we couldn’t decide what to eat, and what a great choice it was! These are straightforward, to the point New York-style burgers. No mess, no frills, just meat, cheese and bacon (if you wish). The meat is super tender and juicy, cooked to a perfect medium rare and oozing with the melted cheese into the soft white bun. This is a tidy, eat with one hand burger – minimal mess, but maximum enjoyment.

You can find Bleecker Street in Spitalfields Market (as there isn’t actually a Bleecker Street in London) and at their new location by Victoria station. We love their burgers, see what you think!

TommI’s Burger Joint (DOUBLE BACON CHEESE)

Tommi’s serve simple meaty burgers, with good beef patties and sweet brioche buns. It’s a small place, with a cool American burger shack vibe inside.

Burgers are served with your choice from a wide array of condiments – their sweet potato fries are particularly good! Tommi’s really value the importance of good quality beef, going all the way back to their modest beginnings in Iceland.

Tommi’s have three locations around London: King’s Road, Marylebone, and Soho. They’ve also got a place up in Oxford if you find yourself in that part of the country.

Patty and Bun, London, Burger

If you want a messy, can’t put down until your done, needs two hands kinda burger, then Patty and Bun is the place for you.

These burgers are incredible, bursting with flavour and texture and big enough to fill you up without needing a side of fries. When we say they’re messy burgers, we mean it – these are best eaten somewhere you don’t mind getting messy, with people you don’t mind having food on your face in front of – basically, this isn’t a spot for a first date (unless you’re into that sort of thing!)

They’ve got a few locations around London, from Soho to Hackney to Shoreditch. Check out their website for a full rundown of where you can grab one of their burgers!

MEATliquor is a super cool restaurant, with dark red mood lighting and graffiti-style artwork covering the walls. This place is always jam-packed with people milling around a large bar with good music playing.

It’s American diner-style food, you get a tray with a mountain of chicken wings and ranch sauce and cheesy chips – it’s so good. But this is a post about burgers; they’re sloppy and make the perfect hangover meal on a Sunday morning.

This is proper American dive-bar style food; check out their signature Dead Hippy burger. MEATliquor has a few locations around London: Marylebone, Queensway, East Dulwich. They also have other spots in Croydon, Brighton and Leeds. Give them a try and let us know what you think!

Dirty Bones (THE MAC DADDY)

Dirty Bones, Burger, London

Dirty Bones isn’t burger specific. It’s a New York-style comfort food restaurant that just happens to serve some of the best burgers in London. This is an American dive-bar in a speakeasy basement-style setting, and it’s worth checking out even if burgers aren’t your thing!

But for the purpose of this list, we’re gonna talk about their burgers. Wow. This is messy cheat food that’s going to make you feel great about yourself then terrible about what you’ve eaten. But who cares, that’s how a burger should be.

Try their special Mac ‘n’ Cheese Burger, it’s a strange concept but it works so well! There are a few Dirty Bones locations around London, namely Kensington, Carnaby, Shoreditch and Soho. They even claim to serve London’s best hangover brunch; we can safely attest to that!

Honest Burger (TRIBUTE BURGER)

Honest Burger, London

We did say we weren’t gonna include any chains, so this is a little hypocritical, but we think Honest Burger deserves a place on this list.

It’s not a big chain, but they do have a number of places around the country; they are definitely worth checking out though, seriously! Their chicken burgers are insane! Breaded chicken smothered in tangy mayo on crisp lettuce and onion. This is how it’s done.

They source the finest Angus beef and British free-range chickens, which are cooked to perfection and served with a delectable choice of sides. Their rosemary chips are so good! Give them a try, we’re pretty certain you’ll want to go again and again.

Dirty Burger (dirty bacon)

Dirty Burger, London

This is a small burger shack focused on making sick-ass burgers. They’re small, one-hander burgers, easy to eat but a little messy as their flavoursome goodness is squeezed between the buns.

The burgers are served in paper with crispy yet fluffy crinkle cut chips. And their milkshakes are badass. This place is very burger focused, so they’re not overloaded with tons of toppings.

There are three burger choices on the menu (including a vegetarian option), so there’s none of the ‘which tastes and flavours do I want?’. It’s simple; do you want cheese? Do you want bacon? Here’s your burger, you’re welcome. They’ve got a number of spots around London (as well as a place in Chicago and Barcelona!) so give them a try and see what you think!

Mother Flipper (double dirty barbie)

Mother Flipper

One of the very best burgers we’ve ever had. The only downside? It’s not a permanent restaurant in the city! So, unfortunately, you’ll have to keep an eye out and make sure you don’t miss them!

Good size, not too big, with a creamy sauce and stuffed with tiny crispy fries. Try their candy bacon burgers – wow, the bacon steals the show! These burgers are never dry, cooked to medium rare perfection and the buns ooze with wonderful burger goodness.

These burgers are so juicy, you’ll definitely want to go back for more.

Also, see Burger Brothers Brighton for those headed to the Coast!
