This absolute gem of a find is a must if you’re looking for an alternative to the hundreds of art galleries around London.
God’s Own Junkyard is truly bizarre and spectacular, and surely one of the most instagrammable places around!
The Junkyard has a very Vegas-y feel to it, without the gambling and endless tourists. You walk through the doors and are immediately hit by a wall of colour, literally. The walls are crammed full with hundreds of neon signs and installations, with even more hanging from the ceilings. There are signs for everything, from strip clubs and diners to fairgrounds and film memorabilia. No doubt you’ll miss a lot even if you spend hours looking, there’s so much to see. It’s a real attack on the senses, and it’s all free!
Apparently some of the items are up for sale, although there aren’t any visible price tags so you’d have to talk to the owner if you want to hang one of the many eccentricities in your place.
There is a good café and bar setup, as well as a separate gin place next door if you’re after a refreshment, but the real attraction here is the neon. There’s also a pretty cool garden out back decorated with more random stuff, and they supply felt tip pens if you want to add some of your own graffiti.
This place really is unlike anything else; I highly recommend checking it out, even if just for the gram!
