Listed as one of Lonely Planet’s Top 6 ‘Poshtels’, Once in Cape Town is the place to stay for good vibes and a great location.
Once in Cape Town isn’t your regular hostel, this place is more leaning towards 3-star hotel level comfort. This is a cool, contemporary space along Kloof Street, a very happening place filled with restaurants and bars. Exactly where you’d want to find a hostel!
Each shared dorm room is fitted with two hardwood bunk beds and an en-suite bathroom for extra privacy, while you’ll also find international plugs and lockable boxes for personal storage. Once is just a 2-minute walk from the supermarket, perfect if you wish to make use of their shared kitchen.
There’s a chillout room for movies on lazy days, and fresh coffee and local craft beers at their in-house café, Yours Truly, one of our favourite coffee spots in Cape Town! Chill out in the sun snacking on gourmet sandwiches with live music playing on the sundowner terrace. This is the perfect spot to watch breathtaking sunsets over Lion’s Head. Upstairs you’ll find Kloof Street’s only rooftop bar, Up Yours, one of the areas most happening evening venues.
The hostel runs a number of free activities most days for their guests, including trips to Signal Hill and Sunday morning outings to Mzoli’s, Cape Town’s open-air shack restaurant where you eat grilled meats and sit with the locals and dance to local bands. You can also rent bikes from the hostel to explore the city or join in with well-known social cycling events such as Moonlight Mass.
